Nigel Dawes Interviewed - by The Editor
Nigel Dawes, the Artist, Collector and at one time Dealer of Important Competition Sports Racing Cars tells how, in the 1960s, he first realised that famous racing cars like D-Type Jaguars and Ferrari 250 GTOs cost little more as 'old cars' than modern machinery like a new Mini. As a result he built up a collection of (and later started trading in) some of the world's most desirable GTs. Cars owned included the famous aston Martin Project Car P215, a Ferrari 250 GTO, and the ex-Cunningham 1963 Le Mans 24 Hours Lightweight E-Type Jaguar '515 WK'. Today the cars have gone, and Dawes' interest is in maintaining Birtsmorton Court and building up a collection of 1/8th scale model cars.
100 years of Grand Prix Racing - Jeff Heselwood celebrates the upcoming 100th anniversary of Grand Prix racing. Held at Le Mans in 1906, the very first GP was won by Ferenc Szisz on a Renault sporting 13 litres from it side-valve four-cylinder engine.
Peter Cadbury 1918 - 2006 - The Editor pays tribute to the founder of Westward Television who died on Easter Monday. A long-standing car enthusiast he had owned examples of Bentleys, Maseratis and Ferraris, as well as being a director of Aston Martin.
Le Mans 1956 - Le Mans 2006 - Neville Hay looks back over fifty years of 'round the clock' racing at the great circuit of La Sarthe. 1956 was the first year following the disastrous accident of '55 and included many entries from Aston Martin - a situation mirrored half a century later where there also lies the possibility of a first win by a diesel-powered car from Audi.
