Angoulême - Circuit des Ramparts
The Editor takes the opportunity of extending a family wedding in South-West France to take in the annual historic racing festival of Angoulême. The inaugural race (proper) had taken place in 1939, and after a wartime break the circuit regularly saw top class racing until 1955. Present in 2007 was Sir Stirling Moss, who had never raced there in its early days, despite HWM entering a car for his team mate Lance Macklin in 1951, who finished second.
